Cho Oyu

Overview

Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world and is widely regarded as a technically straightforward climb.  Cho Oyu is renowned as the ideal lead-up expedition for those preparing to attempt Mt. Everest.

Our adventure begins in Kathmandu where you’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley and two nights luxury accommodation at the Radisson (or equivalent standard) Hotel. We’ll cover all necessary preliminary logistics in Kathmandu in preparation for our expedition.  From Kathmandu we’ll drive to the Nepal / Tibetan border at Kodari.  We cross the friendship bridge then spend the night in Zhangmu.  The next day we drive further into Tibet and arrive at Nyalam.  We spend two nights at Nyalam as part of our important acclimatisation process and will undertake a number of walks in the surrounding hills as part of this program.  The next day we'll drive along the Tibetan Plateau to Tingri and enjoy incredible views of Shishapangma, Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest along the way.  From Tingri we drive to Cho Oyu Base Camp where we spend a further 3 – 4 days as part of the essential acclimatisation process. A further 2 days is spent trekking to Advanced Base Camp (ABC) where we’ll establish our home & base for the coming month.  The next month will be spent climbing Cho Oyu.
