Ama Dablam & Parchamo
Overview

A challenging climb in the heart of the Nepal Himalaya.
Located in the heart of the Khumbu region of Nepal, Ama Dablam (6858 metres) is without question one of the world’s most spectacular mountains. This expedition provides a challenging & technical climbing experience along with superb panoramic summit views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse & Makalu.
All participants joining this expedition will possess the necessary level of altitude and technical climbing experience required to be successful on this mountain. We will provide excellent leadership, support and all the logistics required to maximize your safety, enjoyment and chances of success. Our climbing route will be via the South West Ridge which provides a sustained level of difficulty, exposed flanks and a good variety of snow, ice and rocky terrain. Although this climb involves a number of technical challenges, in normal conditions it is not overly difficult and the vast majority of the route is objectively very safe. Our unique itinerary combines our climb of Ama Dablam with a ‘warm-up’ ascent of Parchamo (6187 meters) which we access via the Tesi Lapcha and the remote Rolwaling valley.
This incredible adventure begins in Kathmandu where you’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley and two nights luxury accommodation at the Radisson (or equivalent standard) Hotel. From Kathmandu we’ll drive to Singati then commence trekking into the remote Rolwaling valley. The next 8 days we’ll spend trekking and moving slowly up valley, gaining important altitude and acclimatising gently until we reach the Tesi Lapcha Pass (5730 meters). The Tesi Lapcha is the traditional Sherpa pass connecting the Solu Khumbu to the Rolwaling, and it’s saddle is home to the usual location for Parchamo High Camp. From Parchamo High Camp we’ll start early in the morning and summit Parchamo, then trek down to Ngole at 5100 metres. From here we’ll trek to Thame and then Namche Bazaar where we’ll freshen up and enjoy some of the best food & hospitality in the Khumbu courtesy of the Namche Bazaar Hotel. Two days later we’ll arrive at Ama Dablam Base Camp fully rested, acclimatised and ready to climb Ama Dablam.
Our itinerary allows a further 10 days to climb and summit Ama Dablam which given we are already well acclimatised, provides a generous timeframe. At the conclusion of our climb, we’ll trek back to Lukla and enjoy a farewell party and celebration with all our guides and porters. The following day we’ll fly back to Kathmandu and enjoy a final 2 nights at The Radisson Hotel.
